Awakening Tip # 12 | Mentoring IS NOT about putting people down. It's about building people up.  It doesn't matter how good you are at something, lecturing people is not the right way to mentor.

When you identify an area where someone can improve, always make sure you also mention the things the individual does well; then you can talk about the things they can improve and suggest new approaches they can try.

Lecturing and bragging about the things you do will only accomplish making your mentee feel ashamed and discouraged. Mentoring is not about you; it is about the mentee. Think about it and go for it!

Awakening Tip # 11 | Do not force a builder to be an architect. Do not force an architect to be a builder. My years as a manufacturing supervisor and industrial engineer taught me that if you want to maximize production, you have to utilize resources where they are more effective.

Forcing someone to do something they are not good at, will only slow down production and increase the probability of errors. Identify the talents of your staff and capitalize on those skills. People can be cross-trained, but you should never penalize someone for not being good at something they have been imposed to do. #ThoughtfulLeadership #AwakenedEngineer
